During the summer, many families venture out on vacations or family picnics to the beach, park, or other entertainment venue. No family outing is complete without great food and drinks, but above all activities. Here are some fun games that are perfect for vacations and summer family outings.
Badminton
Badminton is a racket sport that is usually played with one or two players on each side of the net. Badminton differs from other racket and net sports like tennis or volleyball because the ball, which is actually a cone-shaped shuttlecock, cannot touch the ground during play. When the shuttle hits the ground, a point has been scored. Badminton is a great game for summer outings because you don’t need a net to play a casual game, just some rackets and a shuttlecock. Also, no court is needed, it can be played on grass or terrain that is not perfectly smooth, again due to the fact that you don’t need to dribble the ball. This makes badminton a fun, fast-paced game to play with the whole family.
Volleyball
Volleyball is a great summer game, especially when your family outing takes you to the beach. The beach is a perfect setting for a casual game of volleyball between your family members. It’s easy to play and the only equipment you’ll need is a volleyball and a net, making it an easy game to transport. Volleyball can also be played in a park, on grass, on pavement, on a tennis court, basketball court, or anywhere that has a level surface. Just make sure each family member knows the basics of hitting the ball and setting it up, so everyone can participate, rather than one or two other athletic family members hitting all the balls.

Frisbee
There are few activities easier to play than Frisbee. All you need is a frisbee. You can even get the family dog in on the act. Frisbee can be played with just two or many people. There are no rules or actual scoring with casual frisbee, but there are many more complicated games you can play with a frisbee, including Freestyle Frisbee, Durango Boot, and Dodge Frisbee. It’s mostly just a fun, energetic activity with open-ended play.

Bocce Ball is also a fun family game. To play Bocce Ball, you need a few more supplies than other games, but the combination of strategy and competitiveness pays off. Bocce Ball is basically a form of bowling. You have your field, which can be grass, dirt or another surface. Then you have a circle in which the players must roll their ball. The player or players who come closest to the center of the circle win points. Additionally, players can knock the other player’s balls out of the way. This makes for a competitive and tactical style of play.
