Robert Heinlein has always been considered one of the greatest science fiction authors in history, and he was an extremely prolific author, and while not as prolific as, say, Isaac Asmiov, he made his mark on the science fiction community.
In this story, Lazarus Long and other members of the family appear on the scene after the fall and revolutionary turmoil of his book 2100. In this book, the United States once again represents something much like the time of our Founding Fathers, but all this changes as everyone finds out about the ultra-long lifespan of a few. Now everyone wants to know the secret of their genetics and they will do nothing to avoid discovering how it is possible for them to live so long.
Of course, in the end they escape from the planet to get away from the madness that all this has caused. As they travel through space they meet all kinds of intelligent beings and our author goes into detail about these encounters and how they are able to travel so far and so fast across the Galaxy. I would recommend this book if you are a fan of Robert Heinlein, but if not and if you like science fiction then you should check it out anyway. Please consider this.
