iPhone 5: game changer or just another smartphone?

For many, the battle for the best smartphone will be endless. Some have decided that once and for all the enemy’s flag has been captured and remains safe in Samsung’s camp with the Galaxy SIII as the victor. However, many others have bet, and even the costs of their 24-month contract, on the latest edition of Apple’s line: the iPhone 5. It is true that it comes mainly from those who own older iPhone models, but for those who already own the latest Samsung. , HTC, Blackberry, Motorola, or the “old” iPhone 4S, you might be wondering if all the hype in the fruity company’s latest offering is worth buying.

The reasons for buying a new phone are no longer those of the past. Let’s face it, a smartphone is a smartphone. We want our multiple email accounts to fit in your pocket. Take more than decent photos that will compete with a budget Nikon DSLR. Surfing the web and downloading content at the speed of light is a given. Most importantly, however, we want to check our Facebook and other social media updates with the swipe of a finger on the smoothest and most intuitive screen possible on this side of Tony Stark’s “touch air” technology present in Jarvis. The iPhone 5, of course, does this and much more. By the way, there are still a number of real reasons why we sold ourselves on a new £ 500 device, even though it’s only a few months old at times. And why shouldn’t we? We work hard and we deserve to treat ourselves once in a while, right? Right!

So let’s see. On the surface, if you’re looking for a massive 4-inch display, 16: 9 aspect ratio, super bright and crystal clear, look no further. It will be difficult to find such luxury within the HxWxD measurements of 123x58x19mm weighing just 112 grams. Yes, it’s not the biggest screen, but it’s not trying to be. Compared to the iPhone 4S, the weight loss is welcomed by most, dropping a whopping 28 grams, something not to be despised, as many boot camp goers can attest. And yes, although the larger screen brings a new can of problems, that is, when it comes to applications designed for the 3.5-inch platform that so far Apple decided to follow for the last 5 years, let’s face it, we are not that. . annoying to play the same old faithful Angry Birds with a black border if that means we get a true widescreen when watching movies or viewing panoramic photos taken by ourselves or other talented ones via Flickr or the like.

Not sold yet? Okay. When it comes to the guts of the beast, no penny has been spared in giving Apple users the best performance upgrade. Yes, the competition has done extremely well with a dual and even quad-core processor at the heart of their smartphones. Yes, multitasking, graphic details, video playback and everything related to performance and battery consumption work well in handling the demands of the smartphone user. That being said, the most recent edition of the Apple family is the A6 processing chip that runs at a super fast 1.3GHz speed. Despite being more compact than the dual-core A5, it boasts superior performance, which means that the smaller battery provides more than 40 hours of music playback, 10 hours of video playback, or 8 hours of talk time. With CPU tasks running twice as fast as the iPhone 4S along with twice the graphics performance, it’s clear that on paper at least, the iPhone 5 is twice the phone as its predecessor. That said, real-time testing shows that the older phone lasts just as long on a single charge, but it’s the way it lasts that makes the newer phone stand out.

So great camera, great Wi-Fi, super fast multitasking, 4G capability, super slim model. Sold? Maybe.

I guess when it comes to pushing; in reality, there will be no real reason to buy the new iPhone. Game changer? No. Game edition? Definitely, at least for those who are already in possession of 4S. The iPhone 5 shows us what we’ve been missing from previous smartphones if your phone is older than 8 months. If you already have the last piece of resistance from the competition, then you’ve essentially already made your intentions and opinions known. There isn’t really much the iPhone 5 will offer other than the fact that you can say you have an iPhone 5, but that’s surely the point of the battle, right? Victory is in the mind of the user, and using the iPhone 5 makes you feel like you are the best since the invention of the steering wheel. In fact, the iPhone 5 will keep you and your fans hanging around happily long enough until the 5S launches. The modifications made to the production of this version of the iPhone have surely meant that the comparisons between Apple and the competition, as well as the spec sheets that accompany it, lose meaning with each passing generation. You have to play with it to get sold or it is equally true, you have been coveting to move to the “Apple side” for a long time and finally decided to be brave enough to change. So when all is said and done, happy to buy whatever you are buying, and see you in 6 months!
