How to Market Your Writing Skills

Good writers are writers of words. Like the building blocks, they have acquired the skills to carefully choose the words that will convey specific meanings to their readers around the world.

Acquiring the skills to write copies that will add value to your readers takes time and a lot of effort. This is not a tea party.

You have to get out of your comfort zone, read anything under the sun, sleep less at night, stay on your computer until your kingdom arrives, surf the net for specific information, etc.

But above all, you have to write, write and write. Reading is only 1%, while practice is 99%. There is no magic in making good copies. It is more practical than talking.

But, when you write good copies, you have to let the world know.

In this 21st century, computers and the Internet have reduced our world to one global family. It used to be called a global village. Of course you know.

So how do you market your writing skills around the world? Good question. The Internet is a global library and a powerful and dynamic marketplace for everyone.

Therefore, any product or service that you provide to humanity can find ready buyers online and offline.

Websites, blogs, social media, emails, forums, directories, online advertising agencies, etc., are good platforms for advertising.

But let me be realistic with you, my brother, my sister. Like all endeavors under the sun, there is no quick-fix approach to promoting yourself first and then making money online.

It is work first before payment. When you go to some restaurants in Nigeria and abroad, you order your meals before payment. Yes, some will demand money before meals.

But, in the online writing business, you have to work, research, read, navigate, and request specific information from Google or any of the search engines.

For days, weeks, months, or even years, you should continue to advertise your presence, hand out almost all of your products, for free, and then wait patiently for conversions to start rolling in.

But, the truth is, in a world of good, bad, and ugly, trust online and offline is a big deal. You have to earn the trust of your readers.

In 2015, online reports cited the international telecommunications union estimating that in a world of around 7 billion people, 3.2 billion of them use the internet.

About 2 billion people in developing countries and 89 million least developed countries also use the Internet.

These figures show a huge market for writers. But, before I say goodbye, remember the angle of confidence that I told you earlier. God bless humanity.
