How it looks to the audience

The Magician takes a Polo Mint (a round mint with a hole in the middle) and threads it on a thread. He then asks a spectator to hold both ends of the rope and covers the rope with a scarf. He puts his hands under the scarf and says that he is giving the Polo Mint a magical massage. When he picks up the scarf from the string, the Mint Polo is released from the string!

how to do the trick

Cut a Polo Mint in half with a razor blade and then cover the cut ends with some rubber cement such as Copydex, which can be found in most offices. When the rubber cement is dry, press the two halves together again. If you have done the job correctly, the seam will not be visible to casual inspection. Put a duplicate of Mint and a tissue in your pocket.

Show the prepared mint to the viewer, and then thread it through the string. After doing this, ask the spectator to hold both ends of the rope. One end in each hand. Then take the handkerchief out of your pocket. As you do, take the duplicate of Mint and keep it hidden between her curved fingers.

Cover the rope with the scarf and say that you are going to demonstrate how to pass one solid object through another. But first, you need to give the mint a magical massage. Having said that, he places both hands under the scarf and threads a loop of string through the middle of the mint and then down the side. They’ll catch the Mint in a noose.

Then, separate the two halves of the prepared mint and hide them with the curved fingers on the left.

Take both hands out from under the scarf and use your left hand to remove the scarf. Then put the handkerchief and the prepared mint pieces in your pocket.

Ask the viewer to look carefully. Cover the mint with your hands and lift the bow over the side of the mint. Then pull the mint down. It will break free of the slipknot and look like it went right through the rope! You can then hand the mint and string over to the spectator to examine.
