College Survival Kit: Essentials You Need in College

When recent high school graduates head off to college alone, it’s likely the first time they’ll be living away from home, in a new environment with people they don’t know. This is a big lifestyle change, and while it is a very exciting step in growing and maturing, it can also be very challenging and stressful. Stress can get out of control and cause serious problems in your life, so keeping it under control is a college must. One way students can reduce their stress level is by packing the right things they will need for college. One of the biggest stresses in college will be money, so the more you can take with you to college, the less you’ll have to spend once you’re there.

To make you feel a little safer and less stressed, you should put together a survival college kid that has essentials including toiletries, laundry components, storage options, gas cards, and survival food. When you pack for college, don’t forget to bring your shampoo and soap from home so you save money by not having to buy it at the store. It’s also a good idea to bring some medical supplies, such as Band-Aids, in case of an emergency. Pain relievers like Tylenol are crucial, so bring some from home, because you don’t want to find out you need them just the way you need them.

Pack up a few rolls of quarters so you don’t have to worry about getting change for the pay machines. Since bedrooms are so small, especially if you have more than one roommate, storage solutions can save your life and sanity. Gas cards are a handy option if you have a car or other automobile that uses gas. Perhaps one of the most comforting items in your college survival kit is survival food. Snacks are always needed to eat while you sleep and nothing tastes better than your favorite sweets from home.
