An underwater restaurant and dinner in the sky

Most of us have a favorite restaurant, the only specific place we always go to because we are familiar with their menu and have made a tradition of eating there. While having a favorite restaurant is certainly comfortable, why not take things up a notch and consider eating at one of the most unique dining establishments in the world? From enjoying gourmet dishes underwater to having a ninja serve you dinner, many of these businesses are worth a trip. Read on for some tips.

Dine under water

Rangali Island Resort offers a truly unique dining experience. This intimate space is located 16 feet underwater and is enclosed in a clear acrylic roof, offering a panoramic view of fish and marine animals swimming in the beautiful waters of the Maldives. The seating capacity is only 14, so you can be sure that it will be a quiet and intimate experience that allows you to enjoy your surroundings. Unfortunately, the salt water is slowly breaking down the structure, so be sure to make your reservation while you can!

Being served by ninjas

Ninja New York has been described as a “grim underground maze”. The space is designed to resemble a 15th century Japanese feudal village and has many dark corners and secret corridors to further set the mood. The servers are dressed as ninjas and bow, twirl and perform tricks as they deliver their food. Naturally, the restaurant serves Japanese cuisine. Expect an adventure when you dine at Ninja New York.

Enjoy a meal in heaven

In Montreal, Canada, you can enjoy your dinner sitting in the sky. A concept originating in Belgium, a crane lifts guests 160 feet into the air, along with a table, staff, and all the other elements of a great meal. Guests are securely attached to dining room chairs so they can enjoy a meal floating on the floor without any risk to their safety. This idea has gained popularity and is now offered for limited periods of time around the world.

Stay in the dark

Dining in the dark is not a new idea, but the concept originated at O.NOIR in Montreal and then a second location in Toronto. The idea is that your sense of taste is amplified when other senses are not stimulated. You will start your night off in the illuminated bar, where you will order your food. Even in this illuminated area, mobile phones, flashlights and any other source of light are prohibited. The waiters will then take you into the completely dark dining room, where you will enjoy a two-hour sit-down meal with the servers explaining where everything is located on the table.

Don’t be afraid to get away from the familiar and experiment with different cuisines and dining experiences. Who knows? You can even find your new favorite restaurant.
