Using videos on your website

Using videos on your website will help consumers understand what they are buying or how something works. The advantage of this is that the user can vividly see what your product or service is about and does not have to use their own imagination. The next few paragraphs will discuss about this.

You probably have three options. The first option is to upload your video to a site like YouTube, then copy the embed code and place it on our website or blog. You can find a button below every YouTube video that says “Embed Video”, click the button to bring up a menu that has the HTML code embedded. Copy this code and paste it into your site’s source codes. There are also some sizing options below the video window with the default size being 560 x 340. You can make it go with your site design, though the skins are limited.

The advantage of using video hosts like YouTube is that “it’s so easy to do” as long as you have an account. Another thing is that it’s free, so you don’t have to worry about getting a big bandwidth bill in case many users watch your video. YouTube also has the largest search engine after Google, which means your video can be easily found. This will eventually bring more people to your site. The disadvantage of using this video host is the limitation of the design and the link. They not only drive traffic to your site, but also from it. Users have the option to view the video on YouTube.

Another alternative is to use an open source flash player. You can download it from the Internet at no cost and add it to the code of your site. This player can play any video you choose. You can find these downloadable players on a large number of sites. The great thing about them is that you can easily change the skins to match your site design. Of course, you have to pay the bandwidth costs yourself.

Your last option would be to hire the services of a company that produces videos. They can make their video as well as host it. The video player is sure to match your site’s branding and design. This is the best option you have, but the downside is the cost. With professional design comes expensive fees, but you can be sure it’s all worth it.
