Is it time for a cleaning?

There are a lot of cleanups out there. It seems like every week there’s another one sponsored by some celebrity or health guru. Are they suitable for everyone? Of course not. Not much is right for everyone, but there may be a few that you want to try to see how it goes for you. With toxins all around us, in the air and in our food, we get stuck from time to time, and what better way to feel better than to detox?

Toxins accumulate over the years and our bodies are pretty good at getting rid of a lot of them, but we always have something we can get rid of and that’s where body cleansing comes in. But instead of going on a crazy juice cleanse or eating only grapefruit for a week, how about approaching it a little differently, like a lifestyle change? Of course it will take more time, but the results will be much better.

You can start to detox by choosing organic fruits and vegetables and staying away from anything processed or containing GMOs. Also adding garlic, lemon, broccoli, beans and raw vegetables to your diet can help in the body’s natural detoxification process. The better the food you put in, the better the result.

Another way to detox is to exercise. When we exercise we sweat and that releases some of the toxins in our body. It’s also great for the heart and mind, making it beneficial for everyone. Meditation is also a great thing to try as it is clearing your mind and lowering your stress level. Stress is toxic in and of itself, so avoiding it is a great thing to do—easier said than done!

We all know the benefits of water. The more you drink, the better you’ll feel. Water is a detoxifying agent because it helps the body flush out toxins. Adding lemon or cucumber to it will give it a nice kick and flavor and also aid in digestion and detoxification. Mix it up and drink that water.

If you want something a little quicker, there is always the ionic detox which uses positively and negatively charged ions to draw toxins out of your body while you soak your feet in warm salt water. And of course, massage does wonders for both mind and body in getting rid of those toxins!
