Enjoying the natural beauty of Mauritius

Most of the tourists come to Mauritius for vacation. In order to enjoy your vacation to the fullest, there are several things you can do in Mauritius. One could head to Grand Bay, where a large number of activities are easily accessible to tourists. You can practice water sports such as swimming, paragliding, diving, windsurfing and water skiing, among others. For those who don’t want to dive, underwater adventures are a great thing to try. Grand Bay is considered one of the most fun places to visit in Mauritius. Full of restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and shopping malls, all the ingredients are present to offer unforgettable moments.

Discovering Mauritius is the main goal of any tourist making the trip for the first time. So why not try climbing ‘Le Pouce’ mountain? The mountain is relatively easy to climb and is around 812 m high. Once up, one will be able to discover a full view of Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. If one is trying to see more of Mauritius’ natural beauty, touring the Moka Mountains might be a suitable activity. The tour can be done through the Domaine les Pailles natural park on appropriate bicycles, horses or 4-wheel vehicles. The Domaine les Pailles is a relatively large natural park with around 1,500 hectares of land. Many tourists who come to Mauritius go to visit its rum distillery or sugar mill or even go to eat at one of its restaurants.

In addition, you can also go hiking in the Black River Gorges, located in the Black River district of Mauritius. The Gorge is also a nature park and measures around 6,794 hectares. The place is one of the most famous areas for trekking in Mauritius. Black River Gorges is also home to many rare plants and birds. Therefore, it is protected by the Mauritius Wildlife Foundation. The Mauritius Wildlife Foundation has done remarkable work to protect endangered plant and animal species and is internationally recognized. Also, wildlife is carefully preserved in Mauritius. A concrete example is La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes, also known to most locals as Crocodile Park. The Reserve is located in the southeast of Mauritius and is the breeding ground for thousands of crocodiles and turtles. This Nature Reserve is the only place in the world where aldabra tortoises, an endangered specimen of tortoise, breed.

In addition, La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes has also become an ideal place for the breeding and export of monkeys. Mauritius is probably the only island in the Indian Ocean that does such a task. On the other hand, in its restaurant you can taste gourmet crocodiles. Similarly, your store can reveal alligator items like belts and bags. As already in the southeast, one would love to visit the falls of Rochester. Rochester Falls is a waterfall located near the town of Souillac. The structure of this waterfall is unique in that the water slides over rocks that resemble handmade sculptures to fall into the natural pool below. Many locals plunge from the top of the waterfall into the deep waters below. Meanwhile, many tourists take advantage of the immense opportunity to swim while others take pictures of the wonderful scenery that nature has to offer.
