One of the greatest treasures you can give your baby boy or girl is a memory book. This book can be given to them on their twenty-fifth birthday, their quarter-century mark. It’s not that parents don’t usually have some memories to cherish, but oftentimes, some of their child’s smaller but important events can be left out.

This memory book can obviously hold most of your normal keepsakes, for example, a copy of your birth certificate, your first hospital footprint, your baptismal certificate, your public school photos, or college photos. high school. Some of the things, however, that might help make this book about your child’s early 25 years more meaningful and valuable, and also to share with your children in the future, are some of the following:

1. first report card up to and including high school graduation

2. an item of clothing they wore during their first photo shoot

3. ticket stubs for special events like your first concert, play, zoo, Disney World

4. her first milk tooth

5. his first pencil drawings

6. the special mother’s day card they made at school

7. if you were a story writer, you could include your first story or stories

8. baby shoes, and

9. a lock of hair from your first cut

The point to start your collection of twenty-five years of memories is right now, or as soon as possible so that all those small but important treasures don’t get lost over the years. There are so many items you could include that would mark an important or memorable event that the list above is just the beginning. I’m sure you can come up with an even better list.

While some of these memories won’t be remembered by your child, there is something very special about them when you sit down and explain your importance as a parent, or describe why the event meant so much to them years before. All of these conversations, and there will probably be many, will serve to remind you how much you loved them then and now, and will also solidify in your child’s mind how important they have always been to you because of your thoughtfulness in collecting, saving, and making a memory book. .

And, with all those images that you probably have, it is very difficult to choose which ones to include. One suggestion is to categorize your images into themes, such as birthdays, Christmas, family trips, close friends, snow fun, or favorite toys. Then take your selections and collage them so you can include more images on each theme page.

Start your collection now and you can give your child a memory book they will never forget.
